As you might expect, a load of the tracks that I’ve heard this week have been in some way ‘commemorating’ the untimely death of Adam Yauch, aka MCA from the Beastie Boys. Most, to be honest, are weak as fuck bandwagon jumping horseshit, and the people who made ‘em should have a bit more respect.
Seriously, absolutely nothing I’ve heard on this tip is much cop at all, so I’m not recommending it.
Just a quick holler for you hip-hop heads out there – I’ll be up on Purple Radio on Thursday dropping a solid hour of beats in a guest appearance on Hip to the Hop from 9-10 BST (listen in here)
This is my second appearance on this slot, with the first being one of my most popular shows, garnering over 1000 plays on soundcloud, a feature on the the Ghetto Funk blog, courtesy of the Funk Hunters, and lots of nice comments from randoms to fluff my already overactive ego, so this one better be a worthy successor eh?
Ahoy kids, it’s that time of the week where I bless your ears with three of the best tunes that I’ve stumbled over in the previous week. Aren’t you lucky?
Seems like it was only yesterday that I was working out what exactly I could do with this blog, other than putting my own mixes up on here and decided to share a few of the audio gems that my incessant music geekery found out, and here I am a year later (yes, I know, I missed a couple) having shared 150 tracks.
Speaking of which, lets get onto to the tunes shall we?
Wow – that was a week and a half, wasn’t it? All I did was post a brief review of the Ghetto Funk boys latest, and I end up with about 3 months worth of traffic in 3 days … shame I don’t have my own advertising on here, I could’ve bought at least half a pint of Mild with the proceeds.
Still, hopefully all this increased interest should up the views in this weeks three little ditties I’ve got lined up
After the quite staggering reponse to the last Ghetto Funk presents: Icons Remixed Vol. 2 related post I made a few days (about three months traffic to the blog in three days, and more comments and links that I’ve had in a while) I thought I’d give the people what they want and do a full review of the release, especially since a stack of videos have dropped for them as well.
This has nothing to do with the fact that I’m on holiday from work at the moment, and have little else to do with my time … honest.
Right-ho – sixteen more lovely wobbly, breaky, beaty stuffed morsels to go- I feel like Greg Wallace after a sentence like that.
(yes, I know the ‘whole damn review pt 1 is a daft name when it’s in two parts, but I don’t really care … tune in tomorrow for the other half)
