Three on a Thursday #11

So, posting this weeks Three on a Thursday from the Eternal City was a non-starter, as I was a complete idiot and managed to leave the charger for my laptop in Bristol when I left – Ooops.

This has meant that this weeks entry has been a little rushed as I only got back this afternoon, but never fear! after some serious rummaging I’ve dug up some gems for you so all the tunes featured this week are the usual top notch efforts!

First tune of the week is a Ghetto Funk stonker from everybody’s favourite Spanish producer, Telephunken. This chap has been seriously prolific over the last couple of months, dropping two EPs – Fire & Dynamite on Howlin’ US  and All The Mamis EP on Big M Productions and and also contributing a track the their Big M Presents Vol 9 12″‘  and there seems to be no indication that this run of form is likely to run out soon with this track.

Currently making its debut in it’s unmastered format, Shake Your Monkey is a belter …

Some summery silliness next, which also covers the  obligatory ‘Bristol‘ plug for the week.

I’ve heard a re-edit of this track done by my fellow Purple Radio DJ, Supine, but I’d never heard the original in all is Ska glory, so it still qualifies for Three on a Thursday. If you’re a fan of Doctor Who at all you have to check out the wonderfully named Smerins Anti Social Club‘s version of the theme tune, with added vocals from the mighty Tenor Fly (aka ‘im wot did that song with the Freestylers). Out now on Tru Thoughts

Last up is a lovely number by Blend Mishkin, called Seasons. This one comes with the full compliment of horns, swirling hammond organ, funk guitar, lazy bouncing vibe and a sweet little reggae vocal, so will be a summer essential I reckonIt’s just been released on Riddim Fruit records, and is well worth a listen (sadly there’s only a clip here, but you can hear the full thing on junodownload.
