Yes, I know, it’s late … there is a reason though.
Charlotte Rose turned up on Tuesday night and threw all of our plans out of the window. Mum and newborn are fine, but I’ve only just worked out it’s Friday, . I blame sleep deprivation rather than the beer I was fed whilst wetting the baby’s head …
Right, as ever, three new tunes for your delectation, all new to me this week, ready to warm you lot up for the weekend.
First up is a sweet little remix of Omegaman’s Skankin Riddim by Canada’s Ghetto Funk wunderkind, Stickybuds. It’s a little bit of a break from the Ghetto Funk norm, which he’s described as ‘Space Dancehall’ – which seems to mean more of a 2-steppy bounce with some almost ska touches to the horn line. Ach, sod the analysis, have a listen.
Next is one from another favourite of this blog, DJ Soo. Take one part The Commodores, one part Mark Ronson, sprinkle in just the right amount of 50 Cent and add some wobble and you get Feelin Sanctified. Knocks Delia Smith into a cocked hat.
Last up this week is a straight up and down funk tune by B-Dub Groove Revue called Get Down that’s been given a tweak by Mr Bird. Soon to be released, so keep your ear to the ground for the EP
