It’s that time of the week again where I present you with the finest beat, breaks, bleeps and wobbles that have blessed my ears in the last seven days. Only rules for these tracks is that they must be new to me and awesome. Not hard then …
If you like these little gems I lob in your general direction each Thursday there’s a couple of opportunities to see me playing live in the next couple of weeks – check the Gigs page for the details.
Numero uno this week is a new one by probably one of my favourite producers of all time, the utterly amazing Pete Rock. This time he’s lined up a monumental track, called, ahem, Monumental complete with a vocal from legends, Smif N Wessun which is giving you that boom bap old school ish.
Hat tip to a Grumpy Old Man With A Beard for the heads up
Numero due is probably my favourite track from last weeks Wah Wah 45’s radio show. It takes the rather brilliant (if a little overplayed) Mr Scruff & Alice Russell track, Music Takes Me Up and gives it to Nickodemus and Zeb for a thorough rejig, raising the squelch factor by a huge amount and freshening it right up.
And finally this week we’ve back to some epic mashup nonsense from those crazy Aussies, the Relative Funk Soundsystem boys. Full bore funk from Tower of Power meets Pharell & Snoop Dogg with Tower Of Power Ft. Snoop & Pharrell / Drop It Like It’s Hot (Relative Funk Remix). It just works …
Right that’s yer lot. Enjoy
