Wow – that was a week and a half, wasn’t it? All I did was post a brief review of the Ghetto Funk boys latest, and I end up with about 3 months worth of traffic in 3 days … shame I don’t have my own advertising on here, I could’ve bought at least half a pint of Mild with the proceeds.
Still, hopefully all this increased interest should up the views in this weeks three little ditties I’ve got lined up
First up is one of the most infectiously upbeat chunks of hip-hop I’ve heard all year.Cambridge born Dirty Dike is the self proclaimed ” filthiest rapper in the game – F A C T.”
Hi, I’m James definitely backs this one up, with its bar about drug taking & bird shagging but the demented Wurlitzer tune in the background is sublime, just cheeky enough to carry off the lyrics – hat tip to Mr Moneyshot on this one
Next up is a tune I’ve been banging on about all week. It’s garnered over 2000 likes on Hype Machine and absolutely tore the dancefloor at Mr Wolfs on Saturday. This is the Bobby C Sound TV remix of Ray Charles‘ What I’d Say.
Last up is a slightly techy burbling number from Four Tet. Moma is built around a Jean-Michel Jarre-style synth line, it’s smothered in Keiren Hebden’s standard twittering, glistening high notes, and the entire shebang sounds like glitchier take on Kraftwerk. Niceness
No festive gubbins yet – that’s for next week …
