Three on a Thursday #54

OK, I’m assuming that it’s Thursday over in the UK, as I’m quite a few timezones away, and more than a smidge hungov …ahem…jetlagged

This Three on a Thursday comes to you via a spare hour on Sunday evening, another couple in Changi Airport in Singapore, and for the final bit, a mates dining room in Adelaide … see, that’s commitment to your musical edification, eh?

Anyway, enough with that, I’m off on a winery tour … best get to the the tunes …

First up this week is a mellow little hip-hop number from yet another MC with a pun-tactular name (not that I can say much about things like that) Lecs Luther. Harlem is a sweet little soul-sampling number, which Lecs drops MF DOOM / OFWPKTA style lyrics. Late night bidness,  this one …

Next up is a full bore funk out, from the awesome Mighty Mocambos. As with their Favourite Recordings labelmates The Funk League, they’re bringing back classic funk, with golden era MCs working the mic. Last years album, The Future Is Here is a belter, and my current “can’t get it out of my head” track is Zulu Walk, featuring the grandaddy of hip-hop, Afrika Bambaataa.

Last up is a little bit outside my usual realm for ToT, in that it’s basically a downtempo/ambient house track, with nary a break, nor a beat to be seen, and definitely no whopping great horn line, but it’s beautiful – this is Lusine / Two Dots

About djsherlockohms

Obsessive music nerd for since his formative years, Sherlock Ohms finally pulled his finger out and started inflicting his collection of Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, Breaks, Beats and random ephemera on the unwitting public in mid-2008. Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling. Whether it's early morning chilled wig outs, or eclectic party starting beat fests there's a reason they call him 'No Shit Sherlock' View all posts by djsherlockohms
