Three on a Thursday #55

How’s about this for commitment to the cause – I’m on the other side of the world with wife and spawn,  and have ducked out of the sun for an hour to drop a few ‘new-to-me’ tunes on you reprobates, just in time for the weekend.

Aren’t you lucky?

Most of us who make New Years Resolutions have epically failed by now – fortunately Mr Bird has a bit more sticking power.  His mission? 52 weeks, 52 beats. This ‘ere is beat ‘6 – Get The Funk. Full of wobble, with a sweet synth line, this is the nuts.

I’d been umm-ing and err-ing over this one since last week, partially as the ‘posh boy’ intro irritates the tits off me (fortunately that’s only on the vid …) – get past that, mind, and the beat kicks in and it’s well worth it. Featuring UK  hip-hop royalty in Jehst & Farma G and new boy Buggsy, who seems to be at the centre of everything good coming out of Bristol right now, Connect the SPDIF is a tune to sit back, relax and blaze one to …

Last up this week is a classic modern soul edit from long-time blog favourite, Jim Sharp. On this one he’s sprinkled a little of his magic on The Dramatics / In The Rain, giving it a little of a Stones Throw style snapping beat … lovely stuff

About djsherlockohms

Obsessive music nerd for since his formative years, Sherlock Ohms finally pulled his finger out and started inflicting his collection of Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, Breaks, Beats and random ephemera on the unwitting public in mid-2008. Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling. Whether it's early morning chilled wig outs, or eclectic party starting beat fests there's a reason they call him 'No Shit Sherlock' View all posts by djsherlockohms
