Ahoy all – it’s Three on a Thursday again!
I warn you now, I’ve spent the last few hours in the park, with a bottle of fizz, enjoying the weather. This may or may not have influenced my selection this evening.
If you like what you hear, and fancy experiencing the full horror live, I’m playing Bill Chill Bristol tomorrow night from 11pm. Pop down and join in, eh?
Anyway – ONWARDS!
First up is a wonderful slice of summery soul (told you the afternoon in the park had had an effect …) Roxie Ray smashes a sultry soul vamp vocal over the top of Dojo Cuts latest, Easy To Come Home. Pick up your copy from here or from Record Kicks here
Next tune is from a chap who seems to be popping up all over the shop at the moment. I was first put onto Billa Qause by a mate who pointed me at I Walk Alone, and then he popped up on the rather corking I Know Who He Is EP with Hidden Riddim. Now he’s just dropped the My Mind Spray. Channelling the likes of Gramatik and RJD2, this track is a beat forward, sliced soul sampling belter. I’m fairly certain The Charmels is in there, though it might be going backwards … whatever. it’s epic stuff.
Last up this week is another weather influenced track from The Resonators. Surrender is a a summer-in-a-can soulful little dub number, and is guaranteed to light up your afternoon. Seriously, I defy to you to be stressed after listening to this, it’s BBQ-tacular.
Available on Wah Wah 45 from the 2nd April.
