Evening guys … it’s that time of the week again!
This time we’ve got some wonky electronica, a quality soul cover and some hiphop (of course …)
Cheers for those of you who made it down to Big Chill Bar on Friday night, it was a thoroughly up for it crowd. If you like that sort of thing, check the Gigs link above.
Righty-ho, lets get down to business.
It’s been a while since I’ve tipped a doomtree cut (ToT#7 so absolutely ages …) but this one caught my ear. Taking a shuffling litle break, and adding a stack of multi tracked acoustic guitar Cecil Otter‘s track Box Car Diaries, reminds me a little of Def Jux‘s Aesop Rock, down to the rapid fire flow, and concious lyrics. Wrap your ears round this one…
How’s about some wonky mellowness next eh? wAgAwAgA – yes that is how they write it – chucks some sinophile strings over a dubby bassline, crisp snare snaps and some mellow breakbeat style filtered strings (yes, such a thing does exist, if you don’t believe me, listen to the tune about 4 minutes in. See what I mean?) to give you Nagoya – good innit?
For QSO fans, Alice Russell getting back together with Will ‘Quantic’ Hollandand making sweet, sweet music is a match made in heaven (not like that you sack of perverts). I’ll Keep My Light In My Window is a wonderfully little mellow jazzysoul number from Quantic and the Combo Barbaro. Damn, it’s good to see them back …
There’s also a fantastic little mini-documentary of the guys in the studio recording the track from long time Quantic collaborator, B+
