Three on a Thursday #72

Quick one this week, as I have a grumpy daughter who won’t sleep, and a festival to pack for.

Let’s get it AWN!

First up this week is the star track from the recently reviewed Proper Produce Volume 2. DJ Maars takens two of my favourite tracks, Mos Def’s Mathematics and Lee Dorsey’s Give It Up, to give you Givin Up. It’s the tits, Bag it here

Next up is something beatier and bouncier, but still on a funk sampling tip, from the Fajita Funk kids. Taking the awesomely monikered Pigmeat Markham‘s classic Here Comes the Judge and adding a few judicious (see what I did there) loops and a little bit of a rebalance towards the drums and you’re done. Niceness

Given that the summer has finally shown up, I thought I’d bow out this week on a thoroughly cheerful funk tip. This is Sakwatch and their track Your Love.  Talk about horntactular-northern-soul-slash-motown-stomper – pick it up here

About djsherlockohms

Obsessive music nerd for since his formative years, Sherlock Ohms finally pulled his finger out and started inflicting his collection of Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, Breaks, Beats and random ephemera on the unwitting public in mid-2008. Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling. Whether it's early morning chilled wig outs, or eclectic party starting beat fests there's a reason they call him 'No Shit Sherlock' View all posts by djsherlockohms
