Ooops – a little late with this one, mostly due to ‘going for a quick pint’ with a mate last night, which lead to a messy pub crawl and a horrendous head this morning.
Well, less wittering, more tunes.
Shall we?
First up is an old blog favourite, Laura Vane and the Vipertones. If you’re a fan of the Funk, you should be well aware of these guys and their output. Their latest single I Can’t Move No Mountains is an absolute stormer, but the nu-funkified reboot on the flip is where it’s at this week. Draaikolk‘s remix of 110% is a barnstorming slice of beaty funk guaranteed to fire up a dancefloor.
It wouldn’t be Three on a Thursday (ok, Friday …) if there wasn’t a decent slab of bassy wobbly nonsense involved, and this week it comes courtesy of Vent, and this cracking little Glitch-hop number with Crush, Smack. If this is your sort of thing the release drops in three weeks – get involved.
Last up is almost the total opposite of the previous track. Hidden Orchestra make utterly fantastic, amazingly mellow tunes, and Spoken is a perfect example of this. This drops on the 10th September on Tru Thoughts, and is well worth a few shekels
