Apologies for the lack of a Three on a Thursday last week. Sadly my Grandfather passed away, so writing about music was the last thing in my mind – sorry.
Never fear, as I’m back this week!
Onwards!
First up this week is a howling slab of *proper* R&B from Harold Burrage. I do have a soft spot for stuff like this, and if you do to, check out the Dereks Daily 45 blog for more of the same.
Tune two is a hitting the big ‘squelch’ button, which is never a bad thing by my book. B.Visible has been featured on this blog before, and his track Disko Chop is a belter. Sliced and diced with a touch of Outkast, this is right up my street.
Available now on Riddim Fruit.
Last tune this week is Second Sense, a slab of gorgeously beaty mellowness from the King of Chill Jon Hopkins. Combining swirling female vocals from Imogen Heap, subtle strings and synths, and a cracking little snapping beat from about a minute and a half in . First released all the way back in 2004, this gives me goodbumps.
