Three on a Thursday #100

100460CENTURY!

Can’t quite believe I’ve hit the ton on Three on a Thursday (ok, it would’ve been faster had I not quite been so slack over the last few months)

Since February 2011, I’ve slaved my ears to the … erm, bone … and chucked 327 tracks your way from the sublime, to the ridiculous, and this little lot makes it 330.

I didn’t quite expect it to become as popular as it has been, so thanks to those of you who read regularly. Hope you’ve enjoyed the series, and here’s to the next 100!

First up this week is a collaboration between Hip-Hop Royalty – Public Enemy, and one of the best of the modern crop – Brother Ali, with Stand-Up, proving Chuck-D is still at his rabble rousing best after 20 years in the game, and that the longer Brother Ali MC’s the more and more he looks like some sort of Buddhist Ninja Monk …

Warning – the horn line behind this is seriously catchy!

We’re in the midst of a serious heatwave in the UK at the minute, or as many in Europe would call it, ‘summer’. As such I thought the Tom Showtime boot of Coldcut’s Tru Skool, or more specifically the Roots Manuva vocal, to give us Cooler Than Cool.

Last up this week is a horribly talented chap by the name of Bishop Nehru, with Muffled/M.I.C. The beat really reminds me of snippets of 1950’s American TV adverts, though I’ve no idea why.

I love me a bit of throwback Golden Era style hip-hop, hope you do to (course you do, why would you be hear, else?)

About djsherlockohms

Obsessive music nerd for since his formative years, Sherlock Ohms finally pulled his finger out and started inflicting his collection of Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, Breaks, Beats and random ephemera on the unwitting public in mid-2008. Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling. Whether it's early morning chilled wig outs, or eclectic party starting beat fests there's a reason they call him 'No Shit Sherlock' View all posts by djsherlockohms

Love the blog man, nice work. No shit sherlock! Can’t go wrong with public enemy, and that Bishop is a beast, throwback sounds are like butta and the video inspired me.
