A rush of blood to the head, and a week of rummaging through tunes (and, to be fair, an absence of anyone to go to the pub with tonight) has led to *another* Three on a Thursday.
Two week in a row?
Aren’t you lot lucky!
First one this week is going to take us back, waaaaaaaay back into time – ok so only to 2003, but hey that’s decade already isn’t it – to a track from Speech Defect‘s debut album, Freshcoast Gettin’ Rowdy. Blast it in your Hood has a wicked funk hammond sample and a cracking little drum break, combined with some fresh vocals.
What’s not to like?
Next up is cheeky little Drum and Bass number from Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pisto *ahem* General Narco. Loving the propely rootsy vocal he’s lifted for Oh Bumba Clott – hint, don’t go singing this in a predominantly Jamaican area, they might take offence at the lyrics …
Last up this week, and sticking with the dubby, reggae-y vibe we’re cultivating here, is the Gentlemens Dub Club, with the brilliantly mellow London Sunshine – lets hope the weather hangs around long enough to play it post-BBQ in the garden eh?
Currently being given away for free by Clash Music. but it’ll also be on their debut album ‘FOURtyFOUR’ which is set to be released on October 21st.
