Third time’s the charm!
Actually beginning to get this show back on the road a little more – there will be some gig announcements coming up, and cheeky little promo mix, and maybe some guest radio slots to inform you lot about soon
Until then, I’d best find you three tunes eh?
Flicking both the ‘Bristol‘ and ‘Hip-Hop‘ switches this week is Totterdown boy, Boca 45, and those good people, the, erm, Good People.
Boca 45 is nigh on legendary in these parts, from his work with Parker as The Beekeepers, to the psych-tinged work as Diego and the Dissidents, everything he does is class and this is no different.
Almost a latin edge with the horns/percussion thing in place on this one…
(HT to Shepdog)
I’ve known Johnny Clash and Duck, aka Bam Bam Sound for a good few years now, and when it comes to keeping up with the reggae-centric end of things, or should that be tings?, they’re second only to the local Jamaican cab company, who, unfortunately, tend to be too baked to tell what the music playing in their car actually is …
They drop this track on their September Mix over on WeAreBigChill, and after listening I had to have a rummage over on Mixcloud to find out what it is. Turns out it was Alborosie with Ragamuffin, and rather nice it is too.
Last up this week is perennial blog favourites, The Mouse Outfit.
I’m so chuffed I picked up on these boys early, as their recent plays on BBC 6Music vindicate my choice. Their debut long-player, Escape Music is quality, and they’re still dropping freshness like the wonderfully mellow, jazzy, Slicker Than Average.
(and what’s better, it’s a freebie)
