Three on a Thursday #110

lego_record_player It’s ToT time!

Sod the spiel – we’re going in.

First up this week is Future-funk hip-hop number from Paul White. Get Your Head Round This with Trim on vocal duty is based around a wicked woodwind hook, a nice line in gritty tension, and what looks like a Ford Cortina (mk 3 if I’m not mistaken) in the video – what’s not to like?

If this is your sort of thing check out Watch The Ants over on his bandcamp

Sticking with the hip-hop, but this time a more soulful side of things, number two for you this week features a hit list of Stones Throws finest producers and vocalists as Blu, MED, Madlib and Mayer Hawthorne give us a stack of looped up soul beats called The Buzz

Pick the vinyl up over here

Last up is some insanely chilled, RnB tinged electro soul from Kwabs. Last Stand is proper “3am, end of a night with a glass of whisky in your hand” track.

Seriously gorgeous tune and a helluva voice.

(HT to Frameworks for this one)

About djsherlockohms

Obsessive music nerd for since his formative years, Sherlock Ohms finally pulled his finger out and started inflicting his collection of Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Reggae, Breaks, Beats and random ephemera on the unwitting public in mid-2008. Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling. Whether it's early morning chilled wig outs, or eclectic party starting beat fests there's a reason they call him 'No Shit Sherlock' View all posts by djsherlockohms
