Can’t believe it’s been almost 6 weeks since I’ve done one of these – for any of you still out there, no I haven’t given up, I’ve just been hectically busy with family life …
Still, at least I’ve had 6 weeks to find some good tracks eh?
First up is Luke Vibert’s Acage – not just for the acidic synth squelch expertly draped all over a wonderfully bouncing bass, complete with handclaps and snare snaps, but also for one of the simplest and yet the most hypnotic videos I’ve ever seen, featuring with a murmuration of starlings swirling like smoke over the landscape.
Vintage stuff done by a master of the style. Keep your ears peeled for the recently released album, Ridmik
Next up may *slightly* have been influenced by the sunshine last week, featuring two of the UK’s best reggae names, Prince Fatty and Mungo’s Hi-Fi
Under Arrest (Prince Fatty Remix) is going to be straight in the bag for this summer, all whomping horns and stunning digital dub bass.
Serious Champion sounds
Last up is usually something a little different, and this week it comes courtesy of good buddy Katrin De Boer. Best known as the mesmerising chanteuse from the (on hiatus) Belleruche, this some of her new stuff Something Said
