Apologies for the no show last week, but I was lazing, well getting rained on on the Atlantic Coast of France eating my own bodyweight in saucisson sec and forgetting what day it was (also the wifi was shocking out there …)
Never fear though, as I’m back!
First tune this week comes courtesy of the best dressed Irishman in Reggae, the don that is Count Skylarkin’
Taking a massive sample from Wendy Rene’s hit, After Laughter, Skarra Mucci has cut a slice of reggae niceness, My Sound which I’ve found just in time for arse end of a rather rainy UK summer.
Check the slightly surreal timetravelling video below!
There seem to be a stack of remixes and edits of Anderson Paak doing the rounds at the minute – there was a cracking disco edit of Come Down from Sly Melba last week, but the one that has made the cut is a scuzzy little funk edit of the same from AkizzBeatzz – I swear the bassline is the same as the one from Quantic Soul Orchestra’s traack Raw Ingredients
You can find it as a free download on Don Mezcals latest ‘Soul Brothers’ compilation
Last tune this week is a slamming slab of funky goodness from the wonderfully named Eric Boss, dropping beats, well, like a boss I guess.
Closer to the Spirit is an absolute b-boy monster of a tune, all crackling drums, chunky guitar chord, and a lazy vocal from the man himself
Wish I could dance like the kid in the video …
