Three on a Thursday #173

Last night was mad prep for my eldest’s 8th birthday today (Happy Birthday Charlie!), so no red hot Thursday action from me, but I’m making up for it now.

Tracks below the break, as per usual.

The love for The Allergies is a barely disguised thing over at 221b Towers, and I always check any new tracks they drop, and many of ’em end up on a ToT. 2Much! is no different, slicing and dicing funk licks left right and centre. From slick bass bubbles to New Orleans funk keys, the chaps provide a perfect stage for Andy Cooper to get fly.

If you though Andy’s bars on Rock Rock were quick, you ain’t heard shit …

Fancy a spot of of Latin tinged Soul for track two this week?

Course you do!

Stumbled across this one on the Pura Vida compilation, ‘Beach Diggin’, selected by Guts (who I’m a big fan of) and Mambo. Joe Cruz and The Cruzettes Love Song is a luscious track, all honey dripped guitars and understated funk bass lines, with some smooth-as-hell harmonised vocals.

Get a cold one from the fridge and crack it listening to this. Gorgeous

Last track this week is an older one from Par-Tay Records Edits Vol 5, where
Strangelove & Flamingo (SFPV) have taken Brass Construction’sChangin‘ and Eric B & Rakim’s classic ‘I Know You Got Soul‘,  and come up with Soul Changin’, a deeply funk disco-hop stormer – you can almost hear those flares wafting and the afros bouncing as the guys step in time and the MC flows on the beat.

Made to be together.

Pic at the top used under creative commons and is yet another from

Since then he's graced the airwaves of Big Chill FM and Purple Radio, the stages of the Festinho festival, and the DJ booths of the UK fluffing for the likes of DJ Moneyshot, Boca 45 and Ugly Duckling.
