Evening all.
Just a quick gig heads up – I’ll be playing a few hours of relaxed beats for you to drink to this Sunday down at the Left Handed Giant Brewing Company in Bristol.
Pop down from 2-5pm and enjoy some soul, funk, reggae, disco, and the rest of my usual random grab bag of bits and pieces

Ok, I missed a week or so, but for once I have a far better excuse than my usual idiocy/slackness.
Beatrice Constance arrived on the 7th October, weighing in at 9lb 4oz and has thrown our world into a spin – I now have a 10 day old to look after as well as a 2 1/2 year old, so digging through heaps of tunes, carefully curating the finest from heaps of dross has been less of a priority (doesn’t mean I’ve stopped entirely, mind)
Right, that’s it with the excuses – I’ve had a couple of weeks to select some corking tunes for you …

Third time’s the charm!
Actually beginning to get this show back on the road a little more – there will be some gig announcements coming up, and cheeky little promo mix, and maybe some guest radio slots to inform you lot about soon
Until then, I’d best find you three tunes eh?

Rapid one this week, my dear darling daughter has *finally* gone to sleep.
Just as heads up,I’m going to try and be a smidge more active on the blogging front – I’ve been a bit slack recently, so best sort it out, eh?
Keep your eye peeled, there’s a couple of bits and pieces in the pipeline.

Longtime buddy of the blog, Ewan Hoozami, has taken a bit a of musical ‘left at the traffic lights’ move recently
Not being satisfied with smashing up dancefloors of the UK and Europe with eclectic, beat laden party styling sets, or releasing sample heavy mashups, he’s taken to singing …

Back in the mists of time there was a ‘Community Festival‘ up at Ashton Court in Bristol – over the years it grew from a few mates in a field into one of the largest free festivals in Europe, with all the public nudity and dogs on strings that that brings.
Eventually the two enemies of fun, Licensing Law and ‘Elf and Safety, demanded such niceties as ‘insurance’ and ‘a fence to keep the troublemakers out’ which drove costs up and despite sponsorship from Orange, the debts piled up. Sadly, a washout in 2007 was the final nail in its coffin and the good times rolled no more.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, a couple of good eggs filled our festival shaped hole with Brisfest – a couple of days of mental music and good times, held at venues all over the city. It did well – so well, in fact, that they’re stepping up their game and taking the festival out of the city into the fields again.
If this alone doesn’t tempt you, they’ve just announced their lineup today. Oh yes.
Tickets are available here. I’d suggest you get on it.

I did think of doing a ‘Heinz 57’ inspired mega-dig for tunes, but to be honest doing 6 last week was tiring enough, so lets just still to quality not quantity, eh? Continue reading

Just a quick post to say ‘ta’ to the guys from WHOMP! for having me on Saturday. As you can tell from the photos below it was a pretty large one …

Apologies for the lack of a Three on a Thursday last week – I was in a wifi free hotel room in Tokyo so was a little stuck. Never fear though, they’ve foolishly let me back into the country, so, refreshed from my travels, I’ll be battering through the rather huge pile of promo that’s clogging up my inbox and the choicest cuts will presented in the next few days, so keep ’em peeled!
If you’re feeling the tunes and mixes I’ve been posting, the good news (or bad news depending on your opinion) is that I’ll be bashing ’em out with the Whomp boys and girls at Basement 45 in Bristol this Saturday … 5 notes on the door for what should be a belter of a night.
Right-ho – best strap the cans on and get on it …

How’s about this for commitment to the cause – I’m on the other side of the world with wife and spawn, and have ducked out of the sun for an hour to drop a few ‘new-to-me’ tunes on you reprobates, just in time for the weekend.
Aren’t you lucky?
